Help us repair the Lapidarium in Rosia Montana Museum!
Dear friends, we need your support!
The Lapidarium in the courtyard of the Mining Museum from Roșia Montană, need urgent intervention. Due to heavy snow, the roof structure collapsed. The retaining wall and the metal structure gave way, endangering the Roman pieces exhibited here.
We decided to help here as well, so we ask for your support so that we can make the intervention as soon as possible. In fact, we have already started: the project for the future new roofing structure is ready (thanks Professional Construct Design for the specialized assistance), the necessary materials are calculated and the team of stone restorers for Roman lithic pieces has already completed the first stage for the preparation of the exhibited monuments (Thanks to SC Metamorfozys SRL for the prompt help!)
Being a project out of the initial plan for this campaign, it had no allocated budget and is beyond our capacity at the moment. But urgent intervention is needed and we hope we will be able to do it as soon as possible. In order for the new structure to be ready to receive the first tourists of the next summer, it is necessary to be able to start working as soon as the temperatures allow it, in the spring. This means that at that time we will need all the materials on site and the financial resources involved in the intervention will be available. Obviously, if all these needs are met, we can start even earlier.
________________
Dear friends, the Roșia Montană Mining Museum attracts thousands of tourists every year and is among the few objectives that can provide spectacular and necessary information to tourists with specialized guidance. The main atraction of the museum, the Roman mining galleries, are presented in a context that allows a journey through the history of mining here, exhibiting in the courtyard of the former State Mining Enterprise several Roman pieces, mostly funerary monuments, industrial equipment ore processing – from wood stamps to machinery from the industrial period, an impressive collection of documentary photographs and specific tools, etc.
This whole ensemble, founded in the 70s by the geologist Aurel Sântimbrean, former head of the mine, now needs urgent interventions. We want to start as soon as possible, with the Lapidarium, for which we will not only cover and secure the pieces and the entire arrangement, but will also be accompanied by elements and explanatory materials that will bring more information to tourists, in addition to the guidance provided at this time.
